State and National

Congratulations to US Supreme Court Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch, who was sworn in on April 10th. He fills the seat of the late Justice Antonin Scalia, a staunch constitutionalist. At his ceremony, Justice Gorsuch said, “I promise you that I will do all my powers permit to be a faithful servant of the Constitution and laws of this great nation. Congratulations, Justice Gorsuch!

Chairman’s Corner

We have talked about how important it is that we get prepared for the mid-term elections. We will be working very hard to prepare for 2018 & 2020.

On April 18th in Georgia’s 6th Congressional district, a Democrat, Jon Ossoff, making a bit for a heavily conservative House district, fell short of the 50% threshold that was needed to win the seat.  There will be a runoff in June and the top Republican, Karen Handel will face him.   Its an early sign that the other side, still angry from not putting Hillary in the White House, is going to pull out all stops to win in 2018.  We must be ready to stand our ground and do all that we can to win.

To that end, we are “beefing” up our executive team, and are continuing to look for new members.  We have added some great folks already.  We have changed our committee structure and are working on more community outreach, focusing on knowing our community, and knowing the political tone around the County.   We will open some of our exec committee meetings, structure town halls and other events.  We will also have a fall event like we have done in the past two years, sometime in September or October.  We are also working hard to find candidates that can WIN at a local level.  If you are interested in running for office, let us know.

We can’t do it alone however and need your help.  We need you to volunteer, donate here so we can support Republicans in Chatham County.  We need you to participate with us, to help us increase our email list and to like and share our Facebook page.  Show your support by coming to our events.  We have a Town Hall & BBQ in Silk Hope where we will talk about the importance of a Precinct structure and other important issues in Chatham County.

Hope to see you around the county,

John Palermo
