Latest news, announcements and updates
Welcome
Welcome to our June newsletter! As we enjoy the beginning of summer and gather
with family, friends, and neighbors, we are also reminded that our nation is
approaching a historic milestone—the 250th anniversary of American
independence. Over the next month, Americans will have the opportunity to reflect
on the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to liberty that gave birth to
the greatest nation in the world. The principles established by our Founding
Fathers—individual freedom, limited government, personal responsibility, and
equal opportunity—continue to guide us today. As Republicans, we honor this
remarkable legacy and remain dedicated to preserving the freedoms and values
that have made America strong for two and a half centuries. Thank you for your
continued support and commitment to our cause as we work together to ensure
that the American Dream remains alive for future generations in Chatham County.
Chairman's Corner
With our county and district conventions now behind us, we've turned our
attention to the North Carolina Republican Party State Convention, taking place
June 11–14. Delegates from across the state will gather to conduct party business,
hear from Republican leaders, and continue preparing for the work ahead. We
appreciate everyone who participated in this year's convention process and look
forward to having our county well represented at the state convention.
May was a busy month locally as several events took place that we were part of. The
Chicken Festival in Siler City was well attended, and the weather was very nice. The
First Sunday in Pittsboro event was also well attended, and many people stopped by
to say hello and get registered so they can receive emails and the newsletter. At our
May 12th Executive meeting, several current students from local high schools came
and listened/took notes as we dealt with the business of the party. Observation of
the meeting was part of their AP Government final project.
We also want to thank everyone who joined us for the Grand Opening of our new
headquarters on Sunday, May 31st. We were delighted by the turnout and grateful
for the many supporters, volunteers, and candidates who stopped by throughout
the afternoon. Visitors enjoyed cake and punch while touring our new office and
storage space, and the excitement was evident as people saw what this new office
space will mean for our party's future. It was a wonderful day, and we appreciate
everyone who helped make it a success.
On June 27th, we will be having a very special event called Celebrate America 250.
This event will be held at Rivers and Bridges Farm. We plan to have a BBQ, silent
auction, and special music. There will be several guest speakers, and local
candidates will be there to share their vision for Chatham County. We are looking
forward to hosting this event to celebrate our country’s 250-year anniversary.

State GOP News
North Carolina House lawmakers voted in May to override Gov. Josh Stein’s veto of
a bill that would add the state to a federal program that gives families up to $1,700
off their taxes for donating to nonprofits that give scholarships to K-12 students.
The federal tax credit was created by President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful
Bill Act. The scholarships can be used for private school tuition, tutoring, and other
services.
The recently announced framework for a new state budget includes what House
Speaker Destin Hall called the “largest average teacher pay increase at least since
2006.” On average, teachers’ base pay would go up by 8%, Hall and Senate leader
Phil Berger said during a press conference. But the number of years of experience
each teacher has would strongly influence the size of their raise if this plan passes
into law.
Even though it is not “GOP” news, the Carolina Hurricanes start the Stanley Cup
Finals on Tuesday. Our state is very proud of the Hurricanes and here’s hoping they
bring home the Stanley Cup.
National GOP News
As our nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American
independence on July 4th, communities across the country are beginning to reflect
on the legacy of freedom, opportunity, and self-government that has made the
United States a beacon of hope for generations. Plans are underway in Washington,
D.C., and throughout the nation for commemorative events that will honor the
vision and courage of our Founding Fathers and the sacrifices of those who have
defended our liberty over the past two and a half centuries. This historic milestone
offers all Americans an opportunity to renew our appreciation for the principles
that unite us and to recommit ourselves to preserving them for future generations.
As we look toward this important celebration, there are many reasons to be
optimistic about our nation's future. Recent reports have highlighted continued
growth in manufacturing investment, strong demand for American workers, and
renewed efforts to strengthen our economy and national security. While challenges
remain, these developments are encouraging reminders that America's greatest
days are not behind us. The spirit of innovation, hard work, and freedom that built
our nation 250 years ago continues to drive our success today. As Republicans, we
believe that preserving those values will ensure a strong and prosperous future for
our children and grandchildren.

In 1776, America declared itself free and independent — and on July 4th 2026, we
celebrate 250 years of liberty, self-government, and the enduring American
experiment.
“Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the
fatigue of supporting it.”— Thomas Paine
“The preservation of the sacred fire of liberty, and the destiny of the republican
model of government, are justly considered as deeply, perhaps as finally, staked on
the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people.”
— George Washington
“Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.”— John Adams
